Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team shot a 36-hole of 619 to finish runner up at the Augustana Fall Regional Preview Sunday in Larchwood, Ia.
The two-day, 11-team event was held at The Falls at Grand Falls Casino (par 72; 6,905 yards).
UNK had efforts of 312 and 307 to trail only host Augustana (609; 305-304). The Lopers finished ahead of seven Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and MIAA foes Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri.
Junior Allison Comer (Overland Park, Kan.) paced Kearney with an 8-over par 152 (72-80) to come in third. FHSU's Morgan Brasser was the medalist (148) with Augie having four of the top eight finishers. Comer's 72 featured three birdies and 12 pars as she was a stroke off her career-low 18-hole score.
Also cracking the top 11 was Arizona senior Paige Lucero (10th; 155; 78-77), Colombian sophomore Juliana Botero Molina (T-11th; 156; 81-76) and Kansas sophomore Brooke King (T-11th; 156; 81-76). Lucero and Comer tied for the team lead in pars (21) with Botero Molina carding 19 and King having four birdies. Finally, Puerto Rico senior Faviola Gonzalez tied for 17th (160; 82-78) with Kansas freshman Beth Grant coming in 22nd (162; 81-81) playing as an individual.
UNK finishes its fall schedule Oct. 17-18 at the Midwest Classic in Maryville, Mo.
