UNK Tennis: #44 Lopers Go 2-0 in Kansas

NSU & UCO Visit Next Weekend

Kearney, Neb. – The 44th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis team won the doubles point and five singles matches to fly by Emporia State, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in Kansas. The Lopers (11-8, 2-2) went 2-0 on the road this weekend with nationally-ranked Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma coming to Harmon Park on April 1-2. Improving to 12-2 against the Hornets (2-8, 0-2) since March 2010, UNK won by identical 6-2 scores at number one and two doubles. In the dual season, the Blue & Gold now has 31 doubles victories. Nationally-ranked Melisa Becerra (Colombia) got past Russian junior Angelina Gnezdilova at number one (6-4, 5-7, 10-5) at number one with sophomore Masha Hatouka (Belarus) also winning a tie-breaking set at number five (2-6, 6-2, 6-3). Finally, UNK allowed a total of 10 combined points between two and four singles.
