Rare Thursday/Sunday Format

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team has seen its weekend schedule change due to impending weather in Crete.

It’ll now be held on Sunday with the exception of the men’s and women’s discus which will be thrown on Thursday afternoon. The John Green Combined Events meet (heptathlon & decathlon) will remain on Thursday and Friday.

The action on Sunday starts at 11 a.m. with the javelin with running events slated to begin at 10 a.m. (10,000-meter run). The meet should wrap up in the evening hours.

On the current national list, high jumpers Brayden Sorensen (Kearney) and Brianna Russell (Stamford) are ranked fifth, Lily Novacek (Kearney) is seventh in the discus and 11th in the hammer, Alex Goracke (Giltner) is 13th in the men’s hammer with Kansans Rylan Basart (14th) and Jaida McEwen (10th) in the javelin top 15. Finally, Wes Ferguson (Fremont) ranks third in the 800, Luke Stuckey (McCool Junction) is fifth in the 1,500 and Ben Arens (Ainsworth) is third in the steeple.
